“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” ~ I Corinthians 15:3-4
How do we know that Jesus is alive? That He rose from the grave? Well, we could talk about the historical evidence that abundantly abounds. Or, I could talk about the miracles I’ve seen. After all, a person who is dead couldn’t still be performing miracles. I could even talk about how He has miraculously changed my life. However, the greatest testimony that Jesus rose from the dead is the scriptures. As the Apostle Paul said here in I Corinthians, “According to the scriptures.”
The Old Testament scriptures accurately foretold of Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus Himself in the scriptures foretold of His resurrection. After His resurrection the New Testament scriptures give us an accurate description of how it took place. The scriptures give us a precise account of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. So if you’re looking for proof, you need not look any further than to the scriptures themselves. They tell us the truth, and nothing but the truth!
