“Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.” ~ Proverbs 20:5
I believe that God has put His counsel or His plan inside all of us. It’s in every person. His plan for our lives is deep within us, but it’s up to us to draw it out. One way we as Spirit-filled believers can draw it out is by praying in other tongues. The Bible teaches us that when we pray in tongues we are praying out mysteries or divine hidden secrets. These mysteries or divine hidden secrets are key to us understanding the plan of God for our lives.
As we spend quality time praying in other tongues the Holy Spirit is praying through us the plan of God. And as you’re praying, that plan will come up on the inside of you. You’ll have peace about what you’re sensing in the Spirit. This has been key for me over the years in discerning God’s plan for my life. I believe it was key for the Apostle Paul also. He told the Corinthian church that he spoke with tongues more than them all. He also said he had an abundance of revelations. I believe many of those revelations came to him as he was praying in tongues.
Let me leave you with a word of caution. When you’re in that time of praying in the Spirit and revelation starts coming to you about the plan of God, you’ll have peace about what you’re sensing. You’ll believe it to be the will of God. However, sometimes when you get back to normal everyday living doubt can begin to come to you about what you sensed while you were praying. Always go with what you got while you were in the presence of God praying and never by the doubt that comes later.
A wise man once said, “Never doubt in the dark what you heard in the light.” I think that pretty much sums it up when it comes to praying in the Spirit and drawing out the plan of God. If we’ll take quality time praying in tongues we never have to be without revelation of God’s plan for our lives again!
